Be it 'Gangaputrulu', 'Sonthavuru' or 'Gulf', filmmaker Sunil Kumar Reddy's movies have been seen as discerning and thought-provoking. The director, who often takes up human-interest and social stories, is now back with a film titled 'Valasa'. Bankrolled by Yakkali Ravindra Babu of Sravya Films and Kalakar Productions, it is up for release.
As the title suggests, the film deals with migration. Since the onset of the pandemic, millions have lost jobs in India both in organized and unorganized sectors. In its wake, the pandemic has triggered a wave of reverse migrations from urban to rural areas. ‘Valasa', the makers say, has taken up this social theme. The real-life experiences of human exodus are what the film's story captures.
Starring Monoj Nandam and Vinay Mahadev, this one has newcomers Teju and Gowri as the female leads. Tanusha, Tulasi Ram, Manisha, FM Babai, Samudram Venkatesh, Nalla Sreenu, Mallika, Chinnari, Sajid, Raman and Vasu are part of the cast.
Music is by Praveen Immadi, the cinematography is by Naresh Kumar Madiki. Sunil Kumar Reddy has also penned its story, screenplay and dialogues.
