Singer Mangli, who has been in the news over a Bonalu song that she sang recently, has said that the song was not intended to offend anybody's sentiments. Many Telangana culture writers and lyricists recently found fault with its lyrics, which they said are disrespectful towards a Goddess.

Mangli, known for singing 'Saranga Dariya' in 'Love Story' and the 'Bullet' song in 'George Reddy', said that the lyrics of the song were changed recently after the controversy.

Mangli has been accused of insulting Hindu sentiments. "The controversy is unwarranted. I am not from a family of Pandits. I come from a tribal background. Ramaswamy, the lyricist of the song, is a worshipper of Ammavaaru. Why would he insult his favourite Goddess? The song has been changed with his permission," she added.
