'Okkadu' remains one of the biggest musical hits in recent decades. Its songs, set to tune by Mani Sharma, played a crucial role in making the film a blockbuster at the box office. Even Mahesh Babu once confessed that Mani Sharma's music helped him attain superstardom in the early 2000s.

In a recent interview, the senior composer revealed that his balance sheet was negative as far as 'Okkadu' was concerned. Every composer is allotted some budget by the producer at the start of the project. It is the composer who recruits singers, keyboard players, chorus singers and others from the budget. There is a whole studio ecosystem that the composer has to take care of.

Mani Sharma was given a certain amount of money by producer MS Raju for 'Okkadu'. In search of quality, the composer spent double that budget. In the past, SS Thaman, too, said that he sometimes spends a bomb on buying expensive equipment and instruments for his studio from his pocket without asking for additional budgetary allocations.

Mani Sharma, known for chartbusters like 'Kushi' and 'Indra', used to be a rage among youngsters in the 2000s. 'Acharya', 'Yashoda', and 'Narappa' are among his recent movies. 'Bedurulanka 2012' is his immediate release.
