Doctor-turned-actress Kamakshi could land a host of acting offers!

What is remarkable about this week's release 'Ma Oori Polimera 2' is that it doesn't have a glamorous character. Its female lead, Dr Kamakshi Bhaskarla, is more of a protagonist. She is not reduced to songs and dances and rather gets to mouth the film's most consequential lines in the presence of a male character.

It is her studied portrayal of an unsuspecting and embittered housewife that adds value to the climax (aside from the twists, which are receiving a mixed response from the audience). For the unversed, Kamakshi won the Miss India Telangana 2018 title after completing her MBBS in 2017. "Since Covid-19 struck the world, I haven't practiced medicine. My dream has always been to become an actor," Kamakshi recently said.

The actress is a trained classical dancer to boot. Does this remind you of Sai Pallavi, who is also a trained dancer prone to pick only performance-oriented roles? While Kamakshi is leagues behind the 'Fidaa' actress, she might well carve a niche for herself in the coming years if she makes the right choices.
