'Maa Oori Polimera 2', starring doctor-turned-actress Kamakshi Bhaskarla in a leading role, was released in theatres in November last. The film went on to be a box-office hit. It has also been streaming successfully on OTT.

The news is that Kamakshi has been recognized with a Best Actress award at the prestigious 14th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2024 in New Delhi for essaying the character Lachmi with perfection in the rustic thriller with supernatural elements. Director Anil Vishwanath received the award on her behalf because she has been busy shooting for a movie.

Addressing the audience, Kamakshi said that the award has only made her feel more responsible for her craft. She particularly mentioned two persons who have honed the actor in her: Rathna Shekar and Neeraj Kabi, both of whom are seasoned names in the theatre field. The actress, who was seen in short roles in 'Most Eligible Bachelor', 'Virupaksha' and the recent 'Om Bheem Bush', added that it was heartening to see "how far we have come as a team and how audiences from other languages are appreciating content."

She further added, "This prestigious award is like the cherry on an already generously iced cake."
