'Skanda': Statement against Jagan's freebies makes the cut

Not so subtly, a character in 'Skanda' says that freebies are the shortcut to gaining power at any cost. It is implied that reckless freebies make people lazy and harm the long-term growth of a state or the country.

The statement against the freebies culture has been viewed as a sly dig at the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh. A few other cryptic dialogues have also been aimed at Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The middle class has been unhappy with the freebie policies in force in AP. A substantial chunk of the population believes that freebies are distributed to the poor not to empower them but as a bribe in return for their votes. That's what has been implied by 'Skanda'.

'Skanda' is a mindless entertainer but the political statement against the freebies culture is winning the hearts of many.

Directed by Boyapati Sreenu and produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi, the film stars Ram Pothineni and Sree Leela in lead roles. Ajay Purkar is seen as the AP CM, while Sharath Lohithaswa is seen as the Telangana CM.
