Lavanya Tripathi's Sathi Leelavathi: A Bold Move or a Risky Gamble?

Lavanya Tripathi will be doing a female-centric movie next year. Titled Sathi Leelavathi, the film is being made at a time when non-superstar movies have been seen as OTT stuff, more so if they are led by female actors.

Kajal Aggarwal's Satyabhama turned turtle at the box office this year. It didn't register even respectable openings. Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Yashoda and Shaakuntalam were ill-fated.

Next year (2025) is going to see a tug of war between two superstar heroines: Rashmika Mandanna and Anushka Shetty. To be frank, Rashmika looks more poised for success compared with the Baahubali actress. The Pushpa actress is in better form. Rashmika's The Girlfriend and Rainbow have a great potential. But Ansuhka Shetty's Ghaati could steal the thunder given that it is a violent revenge (or is it vigilante) action drama. The genre becomes crucial when you are talking about female-centric movies.

In the light of all this, what are the prospects for Lavanya Tripathi's Sathi Leelavathi? If it is a soft-genre movie, it will have a tough time, considering Lavanya is not a superstar like Rashmika, Anushka, Samantha and Nayanthara. Her Happy Birthday (directed by Mathu Vadalara fame Ritesh Rana) was a disaster.
