At the pre-release event of 'Hanu-Man', Chiranjeevi shared an anecdote involving him and Dil Raju. In 2017, the Dil Raju-produced 'Shatamanam Bhavathi' locked horns with 'Khaidi No. 150' and 'Gautamiputra Satakarni'. At that time, many were skeptical about the prospects of the Sharwanand-starrer. They believed that the small film would be bulldozed over by the two biggies. Contrary to all the pessimism, 'Shatamanam Bhavathi' became a blockbuster. It is safe to say that it even ate into the collections of the Balakrishna-starrer to a good extent.
Chiru recalled what Dil Raju told him at that time when he advised him to postpone 'Shatamanam Bhavathi' as a precaution. "Dil Raju told me the content of his film was very good and that his film will surely click commercially," Chiru said yesterday.
Chiru went on to say that 'Hanu-Man' is in a similar position this time in the face of intense competition from Mahesh Babu's 'Guntur Kaaram' (besides 'Saindhav' and 'Naa Saami Ranga'). In saying so, the 'Waltair Veerayya' star sounded a bit unfriendly toward Dil Raju in his tone.
While wishing 'Hanu-Man' a 'Shatamanam Bhavathi'-like success, the 'Bholaa Shankar' star hinted that the confidence Raju had in his film back in 2017 is sentimentally the same as the confidence that producer Niranjan Reddy has in 'Hanu-Man'. As such, 'Hanu-Man' should have been let to be released in a fair number of theatres by Dil Raju, Chiru implied.
For those who don't know, Dil Raju is the Nizam distributor of 'Guntur Kaaram'. Thanks to him, Mahesh Babu's film is enjoying a near-total domination in Hyderabad this January 12. 'Hanu-Man' is going to get only a formal release on single screens. Chiru's sympathies are with 'Hanu-Man'. He is slightly upset with Dil Raju.
