These films often explore ancient legends, supernatural beings, and hidden truths. The makers of 'Virupaksha' (director Karthik Dandu, Sukumar Writings and SVCC) are bringing NC24 out.
Naga Chaitanya's 24th film is touted to be a mythical thriller. If the film's announcement poster is anything to go by, its plot will involve supernatural and adventure genre elements.
The film will go on the floors next month. It would be safe to assume that it will hit the cinemas only after Dasara 2025. By that time, Telugu cinema might see one or two important mythical thrillers. If even one of them becomes a hit, NC24 will be in some trouble.
Ideally, mythical thrillers focus on heroism and destiny. But the genre gets overlapped with mystical thriller elements in Telugu cinema. By the time NC24 releases, the audience would have watched a handful of mythical/mystical thrillers on OTT and in other languages.
NC24's execution will have to be superlative. It should go beyond what 'Virupaksha' managed to achieve. Otherwise, it will be subjected to comparisons and might lose out.
