A few years ago, Bollywood director Aditya Dhar announced a film named The Immortal Ashwathama. Vicky Kaushal, Suniel Shetty, Sara Ali Khan and rumouredly also Samantha Ruth Prabhu were supposed to feature in different roles in the mythology-based big-scale movie.
However, the project was shelved suddenly. What was the reason? It's speculated that Dhar decided to suspend it once he came to know that Kalki 2898 AD would be featuring Amitabh Bachchan himself in the role of Aswatthama. Since comparisons were feared to be made between his film and Prabhas' outing if he went ahead, he decided to call it quits. He then took over Dhurandhar, a seven-hour saga divided into two parts.
In retrospect, Nag Ashwin making Kalki early on has been a blessing in disguise for Aditya Dhar's career. While he might have spent years researching for The Immortal Ashwatthama, eventually, he didn't lose much in terms of money. Also, the two Dhurandhar movies have made him a shining jewel in the crown of Bollywood. For him, there is no looking back now. He is also being sought after by some big Telugu cinema names.
