Something unprecedented has happened in India. An AI-generated image has misled a religious community leader to threaten legal action against a blockbuster movie.
Here is what happened. An image, which depicts Ranveer Singh’s character smoking while wearing a turban, started doing the rounds on social media. A Sikh organization in Maharashtra threatened the makers of the film for "hurting religious sentiments", asking them to take the scene down from the spy action thriller. Turns out the scene is not there in the movie in the first place. It has been confirmed by director Aditya Dhar to be AI-generated. It's hard to believe that someone fell for a fake image and gave interviews to media channels against it. In the process, he has made a fool of himself.
Either the organization made a genuine error or it was chasing the wrong kind of publicity. After all, anything concerning Dhurandhar 2 has been in the headlines these days.
