Digger, the upcoming satirical black comedy film starring Tom Cruise, had an offer for Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil. He declined the role, which later went to a less-known actor from India. Why did FaFa not sign on the dotted line? Turns out he had disagreements over remuneration.
“To perfect the accent, I was told to go to the US and stay three or four months. But they weren’t ready to pay for that. That’s why I skipped it. Otherwise, I would have gone running. Also, to bother so much for an accent, I didn’t feel that kind of fire for it," he has been quoted as saying.
Movie buffs are upset. "Such a huge missed opportunity man; they literally casted Riz Ahmed in his role and he looks exactly like FaFa," a netizen wrote. "After Irrfan, FaFa could have filled the void India left in international cinema. A sure miss," another user added.
Fahadh Faasil awaits the release of Don't Trouble The Trouble on October 2. The fantasy comedy is presented by SS Rajamouli.
