'Writer Padmabhushan', which is directed by debutant Shanmukha Prashanth, stars Suhas in the lead. In this interview, he talks about the movie, his character in it, his journey so far, his future projects, and more.

I always wanted to become an actor, a character artist. Luckily, 'Colour Photo' came my way and I turned a lead actor. I am playing character roles in some noteworthy movies besides doing lead roles. A lot of directors who made short films with me are continuing to be my fellow travellers. I am in touch with the directors of my previous feature films as well. Some of them constantly appreciate me. Every director I have worked with has been supportive. Among actors, Nani anna and a few others advise me to go for the right kind of subjects.

'Majili', 'Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya' and 'Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya' have made me a notable face in character roles. I was apprehensive while doing 'Colour Photo' because it had me as a lead actor. It was not easy to handle the pressure, but I enjoyed the process of doing the movie.

I have known the director of 'Writer Padmabhushan' for many years. The story is exciting and I was in splits as he narrated the story. With background music, it was going to be even better. Luckily, the producers have made the film without compromising on the budget. Asish Vidyarthi garu, Rohini garu, Goparaju Ramana garu, and others have given superb performances.

This is not a satirical comedy. The film is about what happens in a middle-class family in Vijayawada. Padmabhushan is the name of my character in the movie. Since it's coming from the Chai Bisket stable, this movie is all the more special to me. We have come a long way since the time we were into promoting others' movies.

'Writer Padmabhushan' will release in October. Only one song is pending to be shot. Although the protagonist is a writer, it's not just about his writing career. It's also about his equations with his family members and others.

Nani anna, Vijay Deverakonda anna, Naga Chaitanya garu, Samantha garu, Rao Ramesh garu, Brahmaji garu, and the likes have always supported me even when I was doing short films. My parents are extremely happy with my progress. My wife, whom I have known for about 10 years, is supportive. I entered the film industry after marrying her.

My six movies next will be helmed by newcomers. I have known them for years since my short film days.
