'Karthikeya 2', starring Nikhil Siddhartha and Anupama Parameswaran, is an undisputed box-office winner. In this interview, Anupama talks about doing the Chandoo Mondeti directorial, her upcoming movies, and more. Meanwhile, Karthikeya 2's box office run is going great guns in Hindi as well. It was released on about 100 screens in Hindi on Day 1. The number got increased to 300 on Sunday. The collections in Hindi saw a jump of 300% on Day 2 compared to the opening day.

This film came my way in the last leg of 2020. By then, I was thinking of trying something different. I gave a nod immediately. The costumes that I wear in the movie, the hairdo, and the body language resembles the real me. So, I enjoyed playing the role.

When I venture into doing a film, I don't bother about the box office result. 'Karthikeya 2', I felt, is the kind of story that people belonging to all age groups can relate to. And it was also a difficult project to be executed since the visuals needed a variety of landscapes.

When it comes to spiritual and mystical matters, I had the kind of doubts that Nikhil's character has got in the film. Doing this film has been an eye-opener, for my doubts got cleared off. I believe in positivity. Although I am not religious myself, I respect religious beliefs. I respect people going to temples and finding succor.

The commercial success of our film has come as a huge boost. I did watch 'Karthikeya' and liked Swathi Reddy a lot in it. And I was excited about my character in the second part. As you know, my track with Nikhil is not a love track in the film. It's an adventure screenplay.

After 'Rakshasudu', I did 'Rowdy Boys' immediately. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I signed up '18 Pages', 'Karthikeya 2', and 'Butterfly', the last of which is coming out on OTT soon. My other film with Nikhil is '18 Pages', which is a love story. It's entirely different from 'Karthikeya 2'. I am doing two other projects in Telugu, about which I can't talk about right now. (When asked if one of them is 'DJ Tillu 2', Anupama neither confirmed nor denied it).

All the scripts that are coming to me are amazing. They are content-driven, not driven by the star cast. I like it when I am challenged by my director. There has to be an element of unpredictability in the way I am expected to approach a scene.

Doing that kissing scene in 'Rowdy Boys' felt necessary, as the scene was driven by the script. It had to be done by the character in that film because the situation forces the character to do so.
