'Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali' was released in theatres last Friday. In this interview, star actress Krithi Shetty talks about playing a challenging role in the movie, working with director Mohankrishna Indraganti and actor Sudheer Babu, her upcoming two bilingual movies, and more.
This project came my way before the release of 'Uppena' but after the shoot of that movie. Due to the pandemic-induced lockdown, 'Uppena' was held up for many months.
I have always essayed lovable and energetic roles in my career. For the first time, I played a realistic role, in 'AAGMC'. That's why a lot of youngsters are able to connect with the characters deeply. The positive feedback is mainly because of that reason.
It's a highly emotional role. I approach every character in my own way by doing homework. I go into the details of the character, be it the dressing, language, etc. That helps me understand the thinking of the character. Once on set, I start behaving like the character. In front of the camera, I completely see myself as the character. My expressions become natural.
This is the first time that I played two characters with different streaks. When the director came to me, I didn't know what kind of story he was going to narrate. I see him as a sensible, intellectual filmmaker.
I am an actress today because I have had my parents' support. I know some women who couldn't do what they wanted to do when they were young. 'AAGMC' touches upon this dimension in a deep way.
Entering films was my destiny. I hadn't planned it at all. I got into films after doing a TV commercial.
More than my chemistry with Sudheer Babu, the latter's chemistry with director Indraganti is strong (laughs). The synergetic energy between them is quite profound. I shot for the movie for almost 70 days. After 'Uppena', this was the maximum that I worked on a film in terms of days. Never did I find my director lose his calm during the entire period.
Every film is a different work experience. Every filmmaker is different. I have always learned something new from my filmmakers, right since my first movie. On the sets of 'AAGMC', I felt special because my character is so deep. Indraganti also treats his actors very well. I felt at home on the sets of the film.
The first time when my parents watched this movie, they liked it thoroughly. They have always been my biggest pillars of support.
Upcoming movies: I am doing Suriya sir's movie directed by Bala sir. I am also doing Naga Chaitanya's movie directed by Venkat Prabhu. Both are bilinguals. A few more projects are in the pipeline.
