Vishwak Sen awaits the release of 'Gaami' on March 8. Dheeraj Mogilineni of 'Baby' and 'HanuMan' fame will be distributing the film across India.
In this interview, Sen says that the film's timelines and multiple narratives resemble the style of 'Dunkirk'. "Despite the narrative structure, the transitions are smooth and the emotional connection stays intact," the 'Das Ka Dhamki' actor says. The film is produced by Karthik Sabareesh under Karthik Kult Kreations.
'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi' had not yet been released when 'Gaami' came my way. Vidyadhar's script impressed me a great deal and I was sure that the production works were going to take long. While I have been associated with 'Gaami' for six years, the director has invested nine years of his life in it. The VFX shots are so many in the movie.
'Gaami' is an emotional film of international sensibilities. When we shot an episode in Kumbh Mela, we captured on camera thousands of Aghoras as they participated in the Mela. It was real and experiential.
I have been conscious not to mislead the audience with regards to what they can expect from 'Gaami'. This is not a film wherein you can expect regular commercial elements like fights. In Hindi, films like 'Tumbbad' were so authentic. 'Gaami' is absorbing and the screenplay in the second half is totally arresting.
We will be unveiling a song rendered by Shankar Mahadevan soon. The song release will be held in a holy town. You will enjoy all the songs as much as you enjoy the VFX-enabled visuals.
Like any good film, 'Gaami' too will take its sweet time to involve the audience. The second half will blow away your minds. My character doesn't have many lines. The performance is based entirely on expressions. My screen time is full-fledged but the characters are fewer. The depth of different characters in the film will come to the fore only in the second half.
I have supported this film by not taking any remuneration. I maintained the same lifestyle throughout the shoot. We are focusing on the Telugu release of 'Gaami' for now. Ours is the first Telugu film to be released in the PCX format.
'Gangs Of Godavari' has me in a rural role, while 'Mechanic Rocky' has me in an urban role. I am trying to show variation from film to film. Like 'Gaami', 'GoG' and 'Mechanic Rocky' are going to be game-changing outings.
I work hard on every single film that I do. I give my best shot every time. These days, I am tending to forget what I have shot once I am done with the shoot.
