Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty, whose 'Sapta Saagaralu Dhaati' was released in theatres today, has pooh-poohed a sorry trend in the film industry. He argued against paying a bomb for remake rights while giving original writers within the industry a raw deal.
"They pay Rs 30 lakhs to acquire the remake rights of a movie but they are unwilling pay even Rs 3 lakhs for a writer. We won't be able to churn out good films unless we pay the writers well," the actor, whose '777 Charlie' star, said in an interview.
The criticism applies to the Telugu film industry and not just the Kannada film industry. Relatively, Sandalwood is the worst in Southern India in terms of a lack of originality.
Shetty is also known for 'Ayane Srimannarayana' and 'Kirik Party'.
