Wrong optics, Allu Arjun!

Allu Arjun might have been jailed wrongfully, his interim bail was completely justified, and he had no direct involvement in the death of Revathi, but he should have avoided making a spectacle out of his release from jail. On Saturday, for hours, celebrities calling on him at his residence were streamed live. Visuals of him being greeted and hugged by his Telugu film industry colleagues dominated TV channels and social media.

What was the point? What did Bunny want to prove when a child victim of the stampede is still in hospital? Netizens are wondering why the actor went overboard with the whole thing. "He charges Rs 300 Cr per film (referring to Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2' earning), he spent just one night in prison, and many are making him feel like a hero returning from war. This country is cooked," Kant In East wrote.

"Allu Arjun's arrest seemed arbitrary exercise of power. His release understandably gained support from the fraternity. But these celebratory visuals lack a sense of occasion. They overshadow the actual tragic incident (stampede and the death of Revathi). The response reflects elite mocking of common man," wrote Ragahva Krishna, the founder of a cultural organization named Brhat.

It's understandable that Allu Arjun and his family members are relieved, but this was no occasion for the celebrations to be videographed. Not not right optics.
