'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi' is hitting the screens on March 17. Naga Shaurya and Malvika Nair headline the love story. In this interview, the 'Kalyana Vaibhogame' and 'Yevae Subrahmanyam' actress Malvika talks about her character in the movie, working with Naga Shaurya and director Srinivas Avasarala, and more. 'Anni Manchi Shakunamule' opposite Santosh Shoban is her next release.

I watched the trailer for 'PAPA' all day yesterday. The film is a representation of who I am as an artist. It's been a pleasure to work with someone like Srinivas garu, who loves the Telugu language and learned the ropes (of filmmaking) in the US. He knows high-end techniques. Thanks to working with him, my Telugu has become fluent. As a person, I relate more to Sanjay (Naga Shaurya) than Anupama (my name in the movie). Anupama is reserved somewhat. If someone hurts me in real life, I stay away from them.

Typically, love stories span only a couple of years, but the story of 'PAPA' is unique in that it covers a decade (from the age of 18 to 28). The film is divided into seven different chapters, each offering a different emotional experience, some filled with fun, while others explore other aspects. The different chapters were not exactly shot in chronological order. When you are on set, it's just three or four people who know the story and what is happening. They alone have the complete picture.

The passage of time has been depicted differently for the hero and the heroine. He has grown a thick beard, resulting in a significant change in his appearance over time. Meanwhile, I have made adjustments to my hairstyle to reflect the progression of my character.

We are often considered innocent when we are 18, but by the time we reach 28, we evolve into different individuals. We tend to become more defensive about our preferences as we age. This presented a great opportunity for a strong performance.

I wouldn't describe 'PAPA' as a regular movie. It's more of an experimental film. However, it's still a relatable and understandable movie that people can enjoy. It's not a philosophical movie. It is not a crash course on life. You will feel good about the movie. Sanjay is a shy fellow relatively when it comes to expressing love. There is no typical moment of a love proposal in the film. Instead, the conversations between characters happen organically. Ultimately, the goal is to entertain the audience, regardless of whether the film's depiction of romance is realistic or not.

Director Srinivas embodies talent and humor, in addition to being an excellent actor. He is known for his kindness and straightforwardness, and never shies away from expressing his opinions. When it comes to character interpretation, Srinivas allows the actors to bring their own perspectives and insight to the role. Through the use of workshops, the actors are able to fully understand and embody their respective characters.

This is my second movie with producer Vivek Kuchibotla garu. He was there during the UK schedule, taking personal care of the unit's needs.

Kalyani Malik's music is a big asset. While everyone has loved 'Kanula Chaatu Meghama', but I personally love 'Neetho'.

There is a kissing scene in the movie, but I had no objections to it. As a woman, I didn't find the scene titillating or objectionable. This is because the scene is just one small part of a larger story that has so much more depth and meaning beyond just the romantic moment. Ultimately, the scene serves a purpose in the film and is handled in a tasteful manner.

I definitely want to try different genres. I enjoy watching commercial movies. I am a choosy actor who doesn't want to work all the time.

A lot of filmmakers say that my eyes are the beautiful aspect of my face. I have inherited wide eyes from my mother. So, I didn't have to work hard for it. I acquired it genetically (laughs).
