EV premiere show on Sept 14th at Toronto film festival

‘English Vinglish’, which marks the comeback of Sridevi after a 14 year sabbatical, will make its world premiere at 37th Toronto International Film Festival along with Deepa Mehta’s ‘Midnight’s Children’ and Mira Nair’s ‘Reluctant Fundamentalist’. The film festival runs from September 6-16, 2012 and ‘English Vinglish’ will have its premiere show on September 14th. Directed by debutant Gauri Shinde, the film is about an Indian housewife who enrolls for an English speaking course in order to please her husband and family. Besides Sridevi in central role, French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand are playing the supporting characters. While Amitabh Bachchan is giving a guest appearance in the Hindi version, the Telugu and Tamil versions will have the prominent heroes from the respective languages.

One of the film producers R Balki said, “We are very happy that Sridevi is making her reentry in the filmdom through our film ‘English Vinglish’. Our entire unit is very proud that our film is going to be premiered on September 14th at the prestigious Toronto film festival. It’s a feel good film with good humor and sensitive touch. Director Gauri and I are very excited about our film being one among the films of Bob Thornton, Roger Michael, Robert Redford, Mike Nettle, Bis Aplane and Meera Nayar’s films.

‘English Vinglish’ is all set to release worldwide on September 21st, 2012. The film will be simultaneously release in Tamil and Telugu. The major part of the film is filmed in New York. Lakshman Utekar handled the camera, Rasool Pookutty did the sound effects, Amit Trivedi composed the music and Hemanth Sarkar did the editing part. Written and directed by Gauri Shinde, ‘English Vinglish’ is jointly produced by R Balki, R K Damani, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Sunil Lulla.
