'Devaki Nandana Vasudeva', starring Ashok Galla (the nephew of Mahesh Babu) in the lead, scored a duck on Day 1 at the box office. The action family entertainer was released in theatres on Friday.
The failure is a huge setback for the young two-film-old actor. The film's dull and routine trailer was proof enough that it was not going to be in contention. The over-top film, co-starring Manasa Varanasi as the heroine, should make Ashok Galla go back and rethink his choices.
Young actors way less talented than Ashok Galla have opted for safe genres like college campus comedies. Narne Nithiin comes to your mind.
The other hero from the larger Superstar Krishna family who is going through a rough patch is Sudheer Babu, whose 'Maa Nanna Superhero' tasted a similar level of failure recently. Unlike that movie, 'Devaki Nandana Vasudeva' was made on a higher budget. On top of that, it competed at the box office with Vishwak Sen's 'Mechanic Rocky' and 'Zebra'.
