The BJP on Friday made it official that actor-turned-politician Radhika Sarathkumar will be fielded from Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu. The announcement comes just a few days after her husband, Sarathkumar, merged his party into the saffron party.
The BJP has been on a weak wicket in Tamil Nadu historically. If Radhika wins the election, her rise in TN will be entirely attributable to two individuals: Narendra Modi and Annamalai.
Her contemporaries such as Jayaprada and Jayasudha have previously entered politics and saw success to different extents.
On the work front, Radhika has acted in Telugu movies such as 'Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu', 'Aadikeshava', 'Raja The Great', and 'Krishna Vrinda Vihari' in recent years. In each of these films, she played roles that had dignity and importance in the overall story.
