Police in Kerala's Ernakulam have registered a case against director Chidambaram S. Poduval following a sexual harassment complaint. A woman alleged that the two-time filmmaker, whose 2024 movie Manjummel Boys was a runaway blockbuster, trespassed into her Elamkulam apartment and misbehaved with her in 2022. It's not clear why she waited for nearly four years to come out with the complaint.
Officials recorded the complainant's statement before filing the FIR on Sunday. Authorities confirmed that a formal notice will soon be issued to the filmmaker. He will be required to appear for questioning regarding the allegations.
In August 2025, Chidambaram officially launched his next directorial titled Balan: The Boy. The film features a script by Jithu Madhavan (director of Aavesham) and features a cast of newcomers. The technical team associated with Manjummel Boys is behind the project. There have been reports that the director is set to make his debut in the Hindi film industry with a project backed by Phantom Studios.
