'Bramayugam' was released in theatres today. The Mammootty-starrer is an epic horror-drama. Although it is a pan-Indian flick, today's release was limited to Malayalam. The Telugu release will happen soon.

Those who have watched the movie are of the view that the performances are top-notch. "Mammootty is god-level terrific in Bramayugam How can an actor peak so many times in his career? Don’t think there’s any actor in India at the moment who can even come close to the versatility of this genius. Performance of a lifetime," wrote film critic Haricharan Pudipeddi.

"Director Rahul Sadasivan’s writing, combined with TD Ramakrishnan’s dialogues, is exceptionally original and effectively captures the nuances of the world without excessive explanation," wrote Indian Express in its review. "Mammootty’s performance elevates this middling film on the evils of unrestricted power," wrote The Hindu, which views the film as somewhere between good and bad. "Director Rahul Sadasivan’s thriller elevates itself when it slowly transforms into a meditation on the nature of unquestioned power, and the way it brings out the worst in people, sometimes even the well-intentioned ones," its critic wrote.
