'Bramayugam' (Malayalam) is one of the most critically acclaimed movies in recent times. Cinephiles are going gaga over its visual craft and technical finesse. Mammootty is said to have delivered one of the scariest performances ever.

Netizens are wondering if the film is a copy of the 2019 film 'The Lighthouse', directed and produced by Robert Egger. "The film has defied categorization in media, and interpretations of it range from a horror film, a psychological thriller, and a character study, among others," says a Wikipedia post about that film.

A movie buff wrote that the performances, the visual style, and the entirety of 'Bramayugam' are just mind-blowing. "A very special and immersive theatrical experience and a damn brilliant movie. Kind of reminds me of Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse," he added.

Others say that the visual language of 'Bramayugam' is surely inspired by 'The Lighthouse'. However, otherwise, it is a remote copy of Bram Stocker’s 'Dracula', the 1992 vampire horror film.
